Pope Francis just lighted up an entire valley in central Italy. Not only with His faith, but also by turning on a huge Christmas tree.
Its size actually makes of it a Guinness’ Christams tree: 650 m high, more than 500 light spots, 8500 m electric cables, a 1000 m² wide comet. It stretches on the ridge of Mount Ingino, behind the medieval town of Gubbio, in Umbria, and it will be visible until the beginning of January 2015.
The Pope powered on the tree electricity just by using a tablet which launched a signal to Gubbio’s controll station. Gubbio’s citizens in turn could watch it happening thanks to a maxi-screen placed in the city centre, through which the Pope blessed and wished them.
Vivi Rome Bed & Breakfast is located at stroll distance from Termini, where you can easily catch a local train to reach any of the lovely places in central Italy, including Gubbio!
